FUCK DJ Funk Master Flex not playing 50 Cent's record 24 Dec 2004 by lloydbanksworld
On Tuesday night (Dec. 21), 50 Cent stopped off at New York City's Hot 97 radio station to rap a bit with famed DJ, Funk Master Flex. During his time with Flex, 50 talked about everything from his new album The Valentine's Day Massacre, the brief situation with a Nigerian rapper on an airplane, the love he has for cars and his overall bewilderment over Fat Joe and Jadakiss’ alignment with his rival Ja Rule for the "New York" record/video. Furthermore, 50 seemed to be confused at how Jadakiss could make a record with Ja Rule, even though Jada's label partner DMX had problems with Ja in the past and the fact that Fat Joe was blatantly supporting Ja Rule's last album (which predominantly attacked 50), Blood In My Eye.

In addition, the G-Unit leader presented Flex with an exclusive record entitled "Piggyback," in which 50 addresses some famous MCs. Consequently, after 50 left Hot 97's studios, Flex repeatedly told listeners, "I have a new 50 record that I'm going to play in a while." An hour passed by and fans still didn't hear Flex blast off the record. But yet Flex kept promising it.

Then another hour passed and still no record played. As fans scrambled to the phone lines to request the record, Flex finally told listeners - with only minutes remaining before the close of his show - that he was not going to play 50's record, as he had a change of heart.

Obviously fans that were craving the record were left to wonder why Flex left them hanging. And well, they received their answer Wednesday night (Dec. 22), as Flex told listeners that it was a personal decision on his part not to play the record. He said if he says he wants non-violence in hip-hop, then he has to practice what he preaches and 50's track was the kind of record that can start some things. Flex closed the situation by saying, "I'm never going to play this record."

For your information though, here's what's known about 50's "Piggyback" cut: The record mentions Fat Joe, Jadakiss and get this... Kelis. That's right, 50 told Flex that a reference is made to Kelis essentially because she is guilty by association. That stems from the verbal jab that Nas (Kelis's fiancé) threw at 50 during the intro of his Central Park concert in NYC this past summer. Furthermore, we do know that 50 is currently debating whether or not to add this record to his album.

However, just by the preliminary noise and the fact that Flex decided not to spin this record because of its possible potential, if this cut does indeed make the album, there are bound to be words exchanged between some hip-hop heavyweights. What happens next with this record remains to be seen...

Lloyd Banks in Bus Accident 15 Sep 2004 by lloydbanksworld
G-Unit rapper Lloyd Banks was traveling to a performance on Sunday (Sept 12), when his tour bus driver lost control of the massive vehicle and crashed on Route 88 in West Virginia.

According to NBC station WTOV in Ohio, the rapper was headed towards Bethany College when the bus went over a hill and wrecked.

Of the 26 people on the bus, no serious injuries were reported as the transport landed upright.

"The passenger side tire dropped off the right roadway edge, and grabbed the bus and pulled it off the road. The bus driver did a good job by slowing the bus down, and the bus ended up over the hill on all 8 tires," said Larry Palmer, a representative of the Brooke County Sheriff's Department.

Palmer said there is a challenging effort ahead to get the bus out of its current position.

Lloyd Banks and the rest of his entourage managed to get to Bethany College for the scheduled performance. Authorities will continue to investigate what caused the crash.

Lloyd Banks Outsells Joe Budden In One Day 01 Jul 2004 by lloydbanksworld
Betcha 50 Cent that Lloyd Banks’ll be #1 next week.
We wouldn’t take that action if we were you, because according to projections based on early reports from national accounts, the G Unit soldier (that’s Fitty's G Unit—recognize!) will see his solo debut, The Hunger for More (G Unit/Interscope) thoroughly pummel expectations by selling well over 400k in its first week of release.

The question now becomes whether that number might rise to 450k before the July 4 weekend shouting’s over. Three-day weekends (which this one will turn into for many) typically favor rack titles, meaning the big sellers for your Wal-Marts and Kmarts, etc., such as Country and Pop titles, since Bubba an’ the folks is out buying barbecue supplies and whatnot and might pick up a nice family-values record while they’re at it. And then again, a lot of other folks are traveling or what have you instead of visiting record stores.

But with a hot title like Hunger, it’s entirely possible the momentum could continue building through the end of the sales cycle. Either way, though, it’s going to be a runaway #1. And you can take that to the Banks.

Also hitting the streets yesterday were Brandy’s Afrodisiac (Atlantic) and Lil Wayne’s Tha Carter (Cash Money/Universal), both looking like they’ll hit the high end of their targets at 150k apiece. The Cure’s The Cure (Geffen), meanwhile, is also looking great, shaping up to hit 70k for the week—proving, along with Morrissey’s recent comeback, that there’s an enduring market for legacy mope-rock.

And then there’s Hollywood’s Breaking Benjamin, which is—how shall we put this—breaking. The rockers’ sophomore disc, We Are Not Alone, is already turning into a big story, proving itself very reactive in the marketplace. It should move over 40k before the week’s over, and could approach 50k, beating projections in a big way.

Lloyd Banks Statement 23 Jun 2004 by lloydbanksworld

Banks' statement

Rapper with 'Hunger' for hits must escape 50 Cent's shadow

By most people's standards, rapper Lloyd Banks would seem to have it made.

He's part of what is arguably the most successful hip-hop posse on the planet — G-Unit, which is fronted by no less powerful a star than 50 Cent.

Banks, 22, also has earned the respect of hard-core rap fans, after taking last year's Mix Tape Artist of the Year award for his series of independently released recordings. And on June 29, he'll issue his first major-label solo album, "The Hunger for More," which has already spawned the top-five rap hit "On Fire."

But Banks isn't entirely happy about the acclaim.

He says his association with 50 Cent has made the police pay him unwanted attention. His Mix Tape prize has made bootleggers more eager than usual to rip off his recordings. And the hard-core nature of his latest music has him concerned about getting it past the FCC, which has been tightening its strictures on what's acceptable.

"Even my clean version is not clean enough," Banks says with a laugh.

Indeed, Banks has built his reputation on cruel and racy lyrics, brutally stripped music and a cold-blooded rap flow. Mainstream music fans discovered him on G-Unit's debut CD, 2003's double platinum "Beg for Mercy." Some critics felt that his raps, delivered in a bone-dry monotone, even outshone 50 Cent's.

Again on "The Hunger for More" Banks keeps his vocals coldly understated and his words unforgiving. But in conversation, he couldn't be more courteous or eager to please.

"I'll do whatever it takes to sell this record," he says. "I'll kiss babies, shake hands. There's no plan B [for my career]. This has to work."

He has felt that way since he started rapping as a child in Jamaica, Queens. Born Christopher Lloyd, he took his nom de rap from an uncle, a career felon, who always used to say, "That's money in the bank."

Banks' mother, who's Puerto Rican, was still in high school when he was born.

His father, who's black, was rarely around when the boy was growing up. He was serving several long stretches in jail.

Banks began smoking pot at age 11, a habit he says he maintains to this day.

"That's my cigarette," he says. "I use it to calm down."

His rap role models were Big Daddy Kane and Slick Rick, who greatly influenced his unhurried, conversational style. Dropping out of high school at 16, Banks developed his own rap sound and soon began appearing on local mix tapes.

Positive feedback gave him the confidence to begin trading verses with two childhood friends — Tony Yayo and 50 Cent. The two suggested forming a trio — G-Unit — which quickly developed a strong local following for its mix tapes.

But the group faded into the background once 50 Cent got signed to Eminem's label and rushed to solo superstardom. 50 Cent's fame came partly from his music, partly from the legend of his having survived being shot nine times.

"I've been shot, too," Banks points out. "And not long after 50."

STAYING IN FRONT

"The Hunger for More" features fewer guest stars than most rap albums. Eminem is one of them, but there's no participation from ace producer Dr. Dre, who has worked with G-Unit, and only a single hook line from 50 Cent.

"The streets wouldn't respect me if I didn't lay it on the line and give them as much as possible," Banks says of his decision to dominate his record.

One of the rare cameos on the album is that of fellow G-Unit member Yayo. He had been incarcerated for most of the previous 16 months on a gun-possession charge, but got out just in time for the recording.

"He went straight from the cell to the studio," Banks says.

Because of his sentence, Yayo didn't appear on most of "Beg for Mercy." He was replaced by Cash Money rapper Young Buck. According to Banks, not only will Yayo now rejoin the group, they'll retain Buck and add a new member, Game, a West Coast artist who makes his debut on Banks' CD.

Over the next few months, a series of G-Unit-related CDs will appear, including solo works from Buck in July, Game in August and 50 Cent in November.

"I got five months for my album," Banks reasons. "Then 50 comes and takes the attention."

ALL BASES COVERED

To maximize his time in the limelight, Banks is involved in a surprising variety of projects. He's providing a voice-over for a Saturday morning kids' cartoon ("Beaver Street Gang"). He's also appearing in a porn flick, "Groupie Love," filmed for his own company. With a perfectly straight face, Banks labels the latter project "educational."

Obviously, Banks wants to keep all the bases covered and, he says, to make as much money as quickly as possible.

"This is the business music, not the music business," he says. "It's all about the marketing." And right now, no one is hungrier to market himself than Banks.
Tony Yayo Says "It Feels Good to Have A Million Dollars" 08 Jun 2004 by lloydbanksworld
Tony Yayo has been out of prison for such a short time thus far and the "big guys" (MTV) have already gotten a chance to sit down with the parolee.

And what is Yayo doing? Well, with all the success that his G-Unit brothers have had while he was gone, they didn't forget about him whatsoever. Meaning they didn't leave his bank account empty. Tony Yayo has been spending money in his first two weeks being free like it's growing on trees.

Accoring to MTV's news report, Yayo is draiped in platinum (thanks to Jacob the Jeweler), driving a new Bentley and has a Porsche to alternate to, not to mention his entourage that he rolls with are three cars deep. Damn! That's alot of cash flow being that he just got out of prison.

Even though he has been locked down for a little under a year and a half, 50 Cent put money aside for his friend and Yayo says it feels good.

"It feels good to come home to a million dollars in the account, you know?" Yayo boasted to MTV News. "I really didn't do anything, you know? And I got a million dollars in my account so it feels beautiful."

Now that he is back and his crew is on top, he says he doesn't feel any resentment and loved the support he got from his recording family, while in prison.

"My boy [50 Cent] took care of me, so I know the love is there," Yayo told MTV. "I didn't feel left out because everywhere you go, you see 'Free Yayo.' It just excited me to see Em [Eminem] with a 'Free Yayo,' shirt."

When Yayo is not out dropping money on lavish things, he is working on new music in the studio with the other G-Unit members. So far, he has recorded songs for Lloyd Banks' and Young Buck's solo albums. And is currently working on his own solo album, which may come out this fall.

"I got an album done already — in 12 days," Yayo told MTV. "I just hope 50 [is] OK with it. Whatever he likes, he likes. Whatever he don't like, he scraps it."

Even with all the money he is seeing now, Yayo says that his album will stay grimey and street reflecting his experience in prison.

Lloyd Banks Offers Fans 'More' w/Debut 04 Jun 2004 by lloydbanksworld
In addition to new material, Lloyd Banks fans will be treated to a G-Unit's Collector Edition DVD this June alongside his solo debut album, Hunger For More.

The CD/DVD combo will include Banks solo set, the "Smile" video, an animated "My Buddy" video and a diary video that follows Banks and Young Buck for a day. Only 100,000 copies of the collector's edition combo, specially packaged and printed on U.S currency paper stock, will be made available.

Young Buck Album 03 Jun 2004 by lloydbanksworld
Buck's debut solo LP is currently slated to come right on the heels of the album by fellow threat-chucker Banks. Banks' Hunger for More hits stores June 29, and Buck's Straight Outta Cashville has been scheduled for July 20, according to a spokesperson for the G-Unit.

50 Cent, newcomer Stat Quo, Snoop Dogg's Dogg Pound Gangstas, David Banner and Lil' Flip all appear on the LP.

Banner and Flip both rap on "Welcome to the South," which has already hit mixtapes, while 50 gets down on Buck's first single, "Let Me In," as well as on "Soldier." Meanwhile, the DPG spit on "DPG-Unit," and Stat contributes to "Walk With Me."

The guest list of producers is equally impressive. Lil Jon laid the track for "Ride With Me," and Three 6 Mafia's Juicy J and DJ Paul produced "Taking Hits." Acclaimed production duo Andre Harris and Vidal Davis, known primarily for their R&B hits for such artists as Mary J. Blige and Usher, also worked with Buck, as did Red Spyda, Midi Mafia and G-Unit's own Sha Money XL.

The video for "Let Me In" just hit the airwaves, and Buck, like Lloyd Banks, is on a promo tour. The other G-Unit members, 50, Tony Yayo and Game, are all in the studio recording solo LPs. It looks like Game, who's working with Dr. Dre, will be the third member of the collective to drop an album this year, but nothing is yet confirmed.

Tony Yayo Finally Out Of Prison! 25 May 2004 by lloydbanksworld
Five and a half months after flirting with freedom, G-Unit's Tony Yayo is out of prison. He's hoping to stay out this time.

Yayo was released from a federal jail facility in New York Monday afternoon after serving time for possessing a forged passport. He was discovered with the faulty document by his parole officer just one day after being released from an upstate New York incarceration facility after serving a year on bail-jumping and weapons charges

One of Yayo's attorneys, Scott Leeman, told MTV News that upon release, the MC went straight to the studio to record new music. He said Yayo plans to release his solo album in September. A spokesperson at Interscope Records confirmed Yayo's release but would not confirm his recording plans.

During 2003, in the year that Yayo was in prison, 50 Cent and G-Unit shot to worldwide fame. Yayo is credited as an original member of 50's G-Unit crew, and their verbal interplay is one of the reasons why 50 flourished in the underground hip-hop world before finding mainstream success.
Info about "Warriors Part 2" 24 May 2004 by lloydbanksworld
It's no surprise that Lloyd Banks is lining up the big guns for his upcoming solo album. He's planning on releasing a new street single, "Warriors Part 2," that features both Eminem and 50 Cent, over a beat produced by Em and a chorus sung by Nate Dogg. "It's me in between the twin towers," Banks said of the track. "It's real aggressive."
